सीरो सर्वे की रिपोर्ट के आधार पर आईसीएमआर ने छोटे बच्चों के स्कूल खोले जाने को लेकर एक बात कही है। जिसके बाद से ही डॉक्टरों की प्रतिक्रिया चौका देनी वाली है। हाल ही में सीरो सर्वे का एक रिपोर्ट प्रकाशित किया गया था। जिसके बाद आईसीएमआर ने सीरो सर्वे के रिपोर्ट को आधार मानते हुए छोटे बच्चों के स्कूल खोले जाने की वकालत की है। लेकिन डॉक्टरों का साफ तौर पर कहना कि इसमें जल्दबाजी नहीं दिखानी चाहिए, बच्चों के स्कूल खोलने के लिए अभी भी दो से तीन महीने और इंतजार करना चाहिए।

डॉक्टर ने तर्क देते हुए कहा कि रिपोर्ट में छोटे बच्चे-बड़े बच्चों और अडल्ट में एंटीबॉडी पाए जाने का अंतर सिर्फ 5 से 10 पर्सेंट ही है। जबकि 6 से 9 साल के 57.2 पर्सेंट बच्चों में ही एंटीबॉडी मिली है, यानी जिन 40 करोड़ लोगों को अभी भी संक्रमण का खतरा है, उसमें आधे बच्चे हैं, इसलिए थर्ड वेव का इंतजार करें, उसके बाद ही इस पर पर ध्यान दें।
एक आंकड़ा के मुताबिक महाराष्ट्र में सिर्फ मई महीने के अंदर 34,486 बच्चे कोरोना वायरस से संक्रमित हुए थे। आरोग्य विभाग के अनुसार, 1 से 26 मई तक 10 वर्ष तक के 34,486 बच्चे कोरोना से संक्रमित हुए। एक मई को राज्य में कुल संक्रमित बच्चों की संख्या 1,38,576 थी। यह 26 मई को बढ़कर 1,73,060 हो गई। 1 मई को 11 से 20 वर्ष के 3,11,455 मरीज थे, वहीं 26 मई को इस आयु वर्ग के रोगियों की संख्या 3,98,266 हो गई थी।
बता दें, विश्व स्वास्थ्य संगठन (डब्ल्यूएचओ) ने अक्टूबर 2020 के एक दस्तावेज में बताया था कि कोविड-19 वयस्कों की तुलना में बच्चों में बहुत कम देखा गया है। बच्चों और किशोरों में रिपोर्ट किए गए मामले लगभग 8 प्रतिशत (वैश्विक आबादी का 29 प्रतिशत) दर्ज किए गए थे। पीएसआरआई अस्पताल साकेत में वरिष्ठ सलाहकार बाल रोग विशेषज्ञ डॉ. सरिता शर्मा ने आईएएनएस से कहा था कि इस दूसरी लहर में सभी आयु वर्ग के बच्चे, यहां तक कि एक वर्ष से कम आयु के बच्चे भी प्रभावित हो रहे हैं।
