अखिल भारतीय तकनीकी शिक्षा परिषद ने मान्यता प्राप्त विश्वविद्यालयों और संस्थानों को आगाह किया है कि एड-टेक कंपनियों के साथ साझेदारी में शिक्षा और ऑनलाइन मोड में अध्यापन वाले पाठ्यक्रम नहीं चलाएं। यूजीसी के संज्ञान में आया है कि कुछ एड-टेक कंपनियां अखबारों, सोशल मीडिया तथा टेलीविजन पर विज्ञापन दे रही हैं कि वे यूजीसी द्वारा मान्यता प्राप्त कुछ विश्वविद्यालयों और संस्थानों के साथ मिलकर ओडीएल और ऑनलाइन मोड में डिग्री तथा डिप्लोमा कार्यक्रम चला रही हैं।
आयोग के सचिव रजनीश जैन ने एक आधिकारिक आदेश में कहा, ”नियमों के अनुसार, उच्च शिक्षा संस्थान किसी फ्रेंचाइजी समझौते के तहत मुक्त एवं दूरस्थ शिक्षा या ऑनलाइन कार्यक्रम नहीं चला सकेंगे। संस्थान कार्यक्रमों के लिए खुद पूरी तरह जिम्मेदार होंगे। उन्होंने कहा कि नियमों के अनुसार, कोई ‘फ्रेंचाइजी’ करार की अनुमति नहीं है।
यूजीसी और एआईसीटीई ने छात्रों तथा अभिभावकों को भी हिदायत दी है कि किसी भी पाठ्यक्रम में प्रवेश लेने से पहले उनकी वेबसाइटों पर उस कार्यक्रम की मान्यता की स्थिति पता लगा लें।

सचिव रजनीश जैन का कहना है कि ऐसी एड-टेक कंपनियों के खिलाफ कार्रवाई की जाएगी। इस माह के शुरू में शिक्षा मंत्रालय ने अभिभावकों और छात्रों को एक परामर्श जारी कर एड-टेक पाठ्यक्रमों में प्रवेश लेने तथा इसके लिए भुगतान करने से पहले, पूरी सावधानी बरतते हुए गहन पड़ताल करने को कहा था। एड-टेक कंपनियां प्रौद्योगिकी का इस्तेमाल करते हुए ऑनलाइन मंचों से शिक्षा प्रदान करती हैं।
